Call for participation and support of the International Women’s March

on March 8th 2006 in Den Hague

We say: NO! to any form of violence against women and children

– Women’s solidarity for a peaceful world!”

The International Women’s Day, on March 8th symbolizes the history of women’s struggles for equal rights, peace and justice. Organising women have shown, that they are able to make a difference: From striking women workers in Chicago and the suffragette movement to campaigns for women’s sexual and reproductive rights; from struggles against racism, colonialism and war to rallies for peace and justice... And these struggles are continuing. They are calling us to reflect on the recent tasks and challenges of women’s organisations all over the world. By recognising the diversity of women’s rights and freedom struggles we want to join together and share our experiences.

By saying: NO! to any form of violence against women and children – Women’s solidarity for a peaceful world!”  the International Free Women’s Foundation IFWF calls for a powerful participation to the International Women’s March organised by Iranian women on March 8th 2006 in Den Hague.

On the International Women’s Day 2006 we declare our solidarity...

...  with women campaigning for the abolition of all legislation confirming inequality and imposing Islamic punishment on Iranian women

...  with Kurdish women organising against any form of patriarchal violence and state oppression, demanding a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question

...  with the women from the Pink Code Campaign and other women calling for peace and an end to the bloodshed in Iraq and everywhere in the world

...  with the Global Women’s Strike demanding to “invest in caring not killing!”

...  with women in Afghanistan, South Asia and all around the world resisting religion based violence, economic and state oppression

...  with women from Uganda and all other countries fighting for access to clean water, health care, housing, transport and literacy

...  with women from the Philippines and from all over the world uniting against trafficking in women, against domestic and sexual violence

…  with women in Venezuela and other Latin-American countries saying “another world is possible!”

...  with men refusing to kill and to conform to patriarchal role models

And our activities will continue...

The International Free Women’s Foundation (IFWF) invites all women to participate to the celebration of its 5th anniversary on March 12th 2006 starting at 12.00 hours in the venue “Ons Huis” Beatrijsstraat 120 in Den Haag.
