IN SUPPORT OF THE MARCH TO THE HAGUE FOR THE
ABOLITION OF ALL MISOGYNIST LAWS IN IRAN FROM
MARCH 4 TO MARCH 8, 2006

Montréal (Canada), March 2nd, 2006 -- It is with
all our solidarity that we want to give our
support to the Call for Solidarity with women in
Iran and the March that will take place on March
4 to March 8.

Over the last decades, women have been at the
core of the struggle against Islamic Republic in
Iran. Women’s resistance has played an important
role in developing the political awareness of
the masses and the political struggle against
the regime. The freedom and democratic rights of
the whole country are bound up with their
liberation.

We also want to support this campaign because it
calls for the unity of the masses, relying on
themselves and on the people, not on the
imperialists and reactionary powers and forces.
All progressive forces, especially in the
Western countries, must support women in Iran in
their fight against their brutal reactionary
regime as well as the equally brutal and
cynically hypocritical imperialist powers. As
rightly said by the organizers of this
campaign: “The American government has declared
that it seeks to liberate the women of Middle
East from the yoke of Islamic Fundamentalism.
This is a ridiculous claim that makes a mockery
of real liberation and is an insult to the women
of the Middle East. The march of events in
Afghanistan and Iraq should have helped those
who were taken in by these self-styled
liberators of Middle Eastern women to realize
how badly they were fooled.”

As an organization that aims to struggle against
all oppressions and exploitation in Canada --
and for us, this means to struggle for nothing
but a socialist revolution -- we see how the
fight to end women’s oppression everywhere in
the world is of crucial importance. We wish that
this Women’s march for ending oppression in Iran
and for the abolition of all misogynist laws
will be a great success.

Down with the Islamic Regime in Iran!
Down with Imperialism!
