No to Islamic Republic of Iran, No to Imperialism,
We are building another world

Following the initial call published by the Campaign for Abolition of all Misogynist Gender Based Legislation & Islamic Punitive Laws in Iran on the 9th of January 2007, we, some of the activists of the Campaign in Britain, will hold a demonstration on Saturday 3rd of March in London to commemorate the International Women’s Day.

The Campaign for Abolition of all Misogynist Gender Based Legislation & Islamic Punitive Laws in Iran started its activities in 2005. In March 2006 it held a 5-day march starting in Germany and ending in Holland. The final demonstration in the Hague heralded a new beginning for the Iranian women’s movement. It was an unprecedented event presenting a new era in the struggles against the Islamic Republic Regime and war mongering imperialist forces. The Campaign took the lead in the first organised radical protest with the presence of political groups, organisations and individuals.  The diversity of political views and outlooks from different countries in support of the Campaign for Abolition of all Misogynist Gender Based Legislation & Islamic Punitive Laws in Iran showed the political maturity of the Campaign who raised the slogan: No to the Islamic Republic Regime, No to Imperialist war. This new movement is of the view that in order to struggle against gender oppression and exploitation and achieve equal rights, the Iranian, Iraqi and Afghan women are inevitably involved in two struggles: on the one hand, they need to fight against the reactionary-religious forces and on the other to fight against the imperialist occupying forces. Our Campaign has also succeeded in gaining active support from Iraqi, Afghan, Indian, American and European feminists some of whom came to Holland to take part in the demonstration last year.

This year, relying on the valuable experience gained last year and more support, we have organised various events. The central demonstration will be on Thursday 8th March in the Hague and simultaneous demonstrations will be held in various European cities and Toronto, Canada on the 3rd March.

Our Campaign considers support and solidarity with Afghan and Iraqi women as an integral part of its struggle and calls on all those who oppose injustice and exploitation against Iranian, Iraqi and Afghan women to accept our invitation and join us in a demonstration on 3rd March in London so that we can raise our voice in protest at the disastrous results of the so-called ‘imperialist democracy’ for women offered by occupying forces and the brutal repression of women by religious reactionary states in the Middle East. We are calling for another world for women and humanity.
